iPhone SE (2020) Launched; Key Specs

Apple launched its iPhone SE back in 2016 and it’s been years since they have launched another phone of this series. So, they have finally launched its iPhone SE (2020) this Wednesday. The new variant still intact the screen size as that of the old one and is the most affordable phone in Apple’s current lineup. The special thing about this phone is that it features the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Apple A13 Bionic SoC which comes in the flagship iPhone 11 series.

The iPhone SE (2020) will be having the following specifications and price:

  • The dimensions of the phone are 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and it weighs 148 g. It is built using aerospace-grade aluminum and durable glass. Also, it provides IP67 dust/water resistant (up to 1m for 30 mins).
  • A 4.7-inches Retina HD (750 x 1334 pixels resolution) IPS LCD display. It offers Ion-strengthened glass and oleophobic coating and even provides the peak brightness of 625 nits (as advertised). Also, it supports features like Dolby Vision, True-tone, HDR10, and the haptic touch display.
  • The fingerprint scanner or the TouchID is placed on the front panel and it offers a glass front and back, and on the back, we can see the camera module with the Apple logo placed in the center of the phone which is quite impressive.
  • For the processor, it features the A13 Bionic chip (7 nm+) SoC.
  • Speaking of the camera, it has a single 12-megapixels camera (f/1.8) and it supports PDAF, HDR & OIS. There is a sapphire crystal lens cover protecting the rear camera. The camera module is accompanied by the LED flash module which offers dual-tone flash. It supports 4K video recording at up to 60fps. The primary camera offers Portrait Mode with the help of computational photography enabled by the Neural Engine on the Apple A13 Bionic SoC.
  • In the front, it has a 7-megapixel sensor (f/2.2) for selfies and other purposes.
  • It will be available in three storage options 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The amount of RAM is not detailed by the company.
  • Connectivity options includes eSIM for Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS & GLONASS, and a Lightning port. But, there is no 3.5m audio jack.
  • It includes other sensors like accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, three-axis gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.
  • The amount of battery is not detailed by the company. However, it is said that it will last as long as the iPhone 8, with up to 13 hours of video playback time, and 40 hours of audio playback time. Also, it will charge up to 50% in 30 min (as advertised) with the help of an 18W charger and it also supports wireless charging using the Qi wireless charging standard.
  • The price in India will be:
    • Rs. 42,500 for the 64GB storage variant.
    • Rs. 47,800 for the 128GB storage variant.
    • Rs. 58,300 for the 256GB storage variant.
    • As you can see, the prices end with -₹500, ₹300 & ₹800, clearly because of the increase in GST. However, its availability in India is not confirmed by the company.
  • The Price in the US will be:
    • $399 (roughly Rs. 30,600) for the 64GB variant.
    • $499 (roughly Rs. 38,200) for the 128GB variant
    • $549 (roughly Rs. 45,000) for the 256GB variant.
  • The pre-orders begin from 5 pm PDT on Friday, April 17, and it will go on sale from Friday, April 24 in the US.
  • It will be available in three color options Black, Red, and White and the White color variant comes with the Black front.
