Samsung’s next upcoming galaxy smartwatch will support Android rather than Tizen as per the new report and several rumors. Since then Samsung is using the Tizen platform for their smartwatches.

According to the new rumors, Samsung might get back to the android supported smartwatches in its future production. Twitter user UniverseIce said on Friday that an upcoming watch from Samsung will use Android, not Tizen.

You might’ve heard Tizen first time lets know quite about it:

Tizen is an open-source and flexible operating system by Samsung, built from the ground up to address the needs of all stakeholders of the mobile and connected device ecosystem, including device manufacturers, mobile operators, application developers, and independent software vendors (ISVs). Tizen is developed by a community of developers, under open source governance, and is open to all members who wish to participate. Visit here to know more about Tizen.

The report is not confirmed about Samsung’s total shift to android or how the watch will look. GalaxyClub recently listed with two model numbers that hint Samsung’s next watches will come in two sizes regardless of the software they use.

Tizen-based smartwatches like Galaxy watch 3 have key apps like Spotify and it is superior to Android. But Android has broader compatibility like support to Google apps. This shift might also help Google which is not in wearables compared to Apple and Samsung.

Seeing support from Samsung to the Wear OS (Android) could help reinvigorate the platform and finally give Android users a worthy alternative to the Apple Watch.

If this report is the true new device like galaxy watch 3 might get Wear OS firmware upgrades. And they might launch two different device ranges supporting from Tizen to Android Wear OS.
