Instagram Launches Tik-Tok Clone in Brazil

Instagram recently launches a new app Reels in Brazil to beat its Chinese rival Tik-Tok. In the last few years, Tik-Tok has seen enormous growth in its 1.5 billion user-base and to beat the heat, Instagram is here with a new app.

A report from Tech Crunch, The new app allows you to make a 15-seconds video clip set to music and users can share them on stories, Send them via DMs and can hit the new explore section naming- Top Reels too. Just like the best feature of Tik-Tok, users can choose the music from a huge directory and can use the sound of other videos too.

Both the iOS and the Android version of the Reel are launched today in Brazil with the name Cenas while there is no other sign when it will be available in other foreign countries.

The clever leverage generating feature might hit the popular app Tik-Tok hard. After copying the Snapchat stories format in 2016, this is the second time when Instagram did the same.

No two products are exactly the same, and at the end of the day sharing video with music is a pretty univeral idea we think everyone might be interested in using. The focus has been on how to make this a unique format for us.

Robby Stein, Director of product Management, Instgram told Tech Crunch

TikTok being a Chinese app is already facing scrutiny in the U.S. and it’s now getting a newly established brand competitor in the name of Instagram.

Brazil users can use the new feature easily by going into the stories tab and next to Boomerang they will find the Reels. They can use music to thunder others. It can be possible that Instagram links the new feature with a close-friends button too so that shy people can also enjoy the feature.

Tik-Tok is married short-form, immersive video with browse. So it’s almost like the Explore Tab that we have on Instagram,  which is today primarily about feed posts and highlighting different feed posts. I kind of think about TikTok as if it were Explore for stories, and that were the whole app. We’re taking a number of approaches with Instagram, including making it so that Explore is more focused on stories.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook

While there is no special announcement about any monetization feature on the Reels as the Tik-Tok users are already gaining hefty benefits from the coin feature that converts coins to the real money.
