Digital Forensic noticed it “highly probable” that the obtrusion into the phone was processed by an infected video file transferred from the account of the Saudi successor to Jeff Bezos, the owner of the Washington Post.

“The information we have received suggests the possible involvement of the Crown Prince in surveillance of Mr. Bezos, to influence, if not silence, the Washington Post’s reporting on Saudi Arabia,” Agnes Callamard and David Kaye, the two UN special rapporteurs, said in a statement. Bezos and Bin Salman met at a dinner in Los Angeles in 2018 and exchanged numbers. Soon the relation had worsened after murdering veteran journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who also used to write for Bezos-owned Washington Post and also a prominent critic of the Saudi government.

Last year the US newspaper the National Enquirer issued intimate details about Mr. Bezos’s private life, provoking him to hire digital forensic investigators. They concluded that the Saudis had accessed his phone and gained private information about him, though the tabloid’s owner.

Saudi denied the fact and called it absurd.”Recent media reports that suggest the Kingdom is behind the hacking of Mr. Jeff Bezos’s phone are absurd. We call for an investigation on these claims so that we can have all the facts out.” tweet from the Saudi Embassy.
