Apple’s iPhone 12 production to begin in July

Apple is planning to complete the second phase of EVT (Engineering Validation and Testing) of its upcoming 5G iPhone 12 series by the end of this month. Followed by this test, assembly of all new iPhones along with the mass production of the handsets will start in July. However, it is unclear whether the handsets would launch simultaneously or would go for scheduled launching with intervals in between.

Four models this time!

Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup will include two higher-end iPhone 12 Pro models and two lower-end iPhone 12 models – this year Apple is launching 4 new models. The former models will come in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays while the latter models will come in 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch displays.

Launch Delay due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Apple usually launches its new models every September. But, the multinational company is facing launch delay due to some production challenges and supply chain disruptions because of COVID-19 Pandemic. Consequently, the launch of the new iPhone 12 series would be delayed by at least two months, that is, the launch is expected to take place in November.

Apple is yet to officially confirm any production delays.

Not all the four models would face a launch delay but, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at Hong Kong’s TF International Securities, Manufacturing of higher-end models in the new series could be “pushed back” due to the “antenna-in-package design changes”, which were introduced by Apple earlier this year.

Another big reason for the cause could be because of AIP modules. The Cupertino-based company is designing its own AIP modules instead of buying them from outside sources.

AIP technology reduces the size of a phone’s wireless system and improves connectivity and signal transmission speed.
