Last Year we have seen Apple Card as one of the most surprising products on the tech market. Similarly, some new leaked google pay screenshot reveals the “Google Card” debit card. Yes, you heard it right, according to Techcrunch reports, they are referring it as a “smart debit card” which will be a lot like Apple card but since apple card was only a credit card, Google card is going to be a debit card that will be co-branded with different banks partner with the likes of CITI and Stanford Federal Credit Union.
Some sources also confirmed that the Google team is working on a payment card that can be used in a Google pay app as the app can now be only used in an online transaction. Leak images also show the google card in the app. The app also shows recent transactions and the place of the transaction on the google map when you tap on payment.
The google card looks similar to apple card according to the leaks images and will be co-branded with the google name and its partner bank name. It also contains a chip. If you lose your card then you can lock it also and apply for the other card.
It is also been said that you will be able to lock your Google card account completely if you see some suspicious activity on your account.
When asked about it, Google said that “we’re exploring how we can partner with banks and credit unions in the US to offer smart checking accounts through Google Pay, helping their customers benefit from useful insights and budgeting tools, while keeping their money in an FDIC or NCUA-insured account. Our lead partners today are Citi and Stanford Federal Credit Union, and we look forward to sharing more details in the coming months”.
This is not the first time when Google will offer a debit card. Google has previously launched its google Wallet card in 2013 which was previously shut down in 2016. Now since Apple Card is doing good in the market, the rival company Google would definitely like to launch it’s Gooogle card in the market again.
However, Google has not officially announced anything in the state to its smart debit card neither they have been denying on the subject, so now it will be interesting to see when and how will the smart debit card of google will launch and the whole world will be eyeing on this.
