AMD Unveils Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards To Take On Nvidia

Semiconductor tech giant AMD announced its three new Radeon RX 6000 series to compete with Nvidia RTX 3000 series in the market. The three new graphic cards are AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, Radeon RX 6800, and RX 6900 XT. These cards have improved the performance over the last generation by 2 times, and are built on the new 7nm RDNA 2 architecture, having a 2.5 slot design and triple fan system. These graphic cards will have the support for Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate API and they will be available from November.

Scott Herkelman, GM of AMD’s Graphics Business Unit said, “The announcement is the culmination of years of R&D focused on bringing the best of AMD Radeon graphics to the enthusiast and ultra-enthusiast gaming markets, and represents a major evolution in PC gaming”.

The Radeon RX 6000 Series with high bandwidth of PCIe 4.0 technology and 16GB memory is designed to power the most demanding A graded games at 4K resolution with the highest possible settings to deliver gamers the best experience possible.AMD proposes to have produced the flagship Radeon RX 6900XT which is the ultimate 4K graphics card and the fastest ever AMD gaming graphics card. The Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card offers 54 percent higher performance-per-watt when compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card.

With this RX 6000 series, AMD also marked its entry into the field of the first desktop graphics card with real-time ray tracing, variable-rate shading, and other DirectX 12 Ultimate features. Even as per AMD’s slides,300W RX 6800XT beats Nvidia’s 320W RTX 3080 at 4K resolution and achieves better performance in popular titles like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Battlefield 5, Resident Evil 3, and Wofeinstein Young Blood.While titles like Borderlands 3, Gears 5, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the two cards are at par with no clear winner.

Nvidia recently announced the shortage of RTX 3000 series cards and may continue till the year-end. This is a great advantage for AMD to capture the market.
