Kerala to offer free internet facilities for below poverty line

Kerela being the most literate state in India has made another attempt for the betterment of the state. Yes, You heard it right! Kerala is going to provide a free internet facility for people below the poverty line. The same will be provided under the Kerala Fiber Optic Network (KFON), Which is ready to be commissioned in December 2020.

KFON as per the official draft by the Government is the Mega Infrastructure Project of Government of Kerala which aims to build a high speed, reliable and scalable fiber network across the State to provide connectivity to 30000+ Government institutions and 20 lakh households leveraging the Transmission and Distribution infrastructure of KSEBL which is in its implementation stage.

The project is funded by Rs 1,548 crores wherein the major part of it has been contributed by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) & KERALA STATE ELECTRICITY BOARD LIMITED (KEBL). Other Institutions like  Kerala State IT Infrastructure Limited (KSITL) have also helped to fund the project. There are high chances of the project to get industrial investment. Though we hope the project gets commissioned as soon as possible.
