PongoOS is Now Fully Open-Source

PongoOS is a pre-boot execution environment for Apple boards built on top of Checkra1n. PongoOS is a custom made OS and it is not built on Linux. Chekra1n is a community project to provide a semi-tethered jailbreak for iPhone 5s through iPhone X, iOS 12.0, and up.

The PongoOS is available on Github. You can check it out by clicking here.

The operating system allows jailbreaking into iOS, with which you can easily remove restrictions from your device.

What is Jailbreaking?

It is a process via which Apple’s OS is modified to take more control over the device i.e. you can remove restrictions. By Jailbreaking, you can read and write to the root directory of the OS, which is prevented by the company.

Jailbreak is mostly done to install third-party apps from other sources that are not available on the App Store. Jailbreaking is completely legal in the US. However, any crime you commit will be illegal.

How to install PongoOS?

  • Open the checkra1n app, and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
  • Magic Hax happens from that point and the device will boot into the jailbroken mode.
